Mission
Club Dwars was founded in the wake of Donna’s accident. In an instant, her life was turned upside down. The simple everyday freedoms moving, working, laughing with friends suddenly vanished. At the same time, something beautiful emerged: people wanted to help. Not just with words, but with real, targeted support. That sense of solidarity became the foundation of Club Dwars. What began out of necessity has grown into a foundation with a clear purpose: to help people with a spinal cord injury regain control of their lives.
After a spinal cord injury you enter a world you don’t yet know, one full of fragmented information, bureaucracy, institutions, and assistive devices. Everything feels urgent, yet nothing is clear. Club Dwars aims to bring calm and direction to that chaos. We gather knowledge, stories, and support in one place from personal experiences and practical information to concrete assistance and connections with others who truly understand. Not a maze of websites, but a central hub where you can catch your breath.
Club Dwars makes it possible to give directly to someone you want to support, right now, that’s Donna. Every donation goes toward her recovery, adaptations, and independence. No deductions, no passing through layers, no middlemen. Because donations flow through the foundation, they are not treated as personal assets. This way, Donna retains her care and support while receiving the help that truly advances her progress. Club Dwars ensures that support remains both humane and practical.
Our mission goes beyond financial aid. Club Dwars is also a space for sharing stories, forging connections, and finding your own path at your own pace. Because support also means knowing you’re not alone. Whether you’ve just left the hospital or are well into your rehabilitation, at Club Dwars you’ll find room, recognition, and stability, so you can make choices that suit you, in your own way.
Vision
A spinal cord injury doesn’t just change your body, it upends your entire life. You enter an unfamiliar world where everything must be relearned. And that’s precisely when you’re confronted with a system that feels complex, bureaucratic, and often impersonal. We believe that no one should, after such a life-altering event, get lost in isolated offices, red tape, and reliance on whoever happens to know something.
Our vision is that from day one there must be a single, central place: accessible, understandable, and humane. Club Dwars aims to be that place. We bring together everything that helps: clear information, practical tips, stories from peers, an overview of resources, and available support options. Not clinical and distant, but warm, transparent, and paced to your needs. Not a helpdesk, but a fellow human at your side.
We also believe that help must be personal and fairly administered. That’s why we deliberately chose a foundation structure. So support doesn’t evaporate in overhead, but actually reaches the person it’s meant for protected for tax purposes, without jeopardizing care benefits or allowances. This way, people can give to those they truly wish to help, and recipients can rely on support that empowers rather than undermines.
Club Dwars began with Donna and for Donna. She’s the first person for whom this structure works. She’s also committed, as soon as her situation allows, to helping others. Our vision is a movement where personal stories form the foundation of a new support system: focused. Equal. And above all, together. Because no one deserves to start over without something to hold onto.
